Lex Shrapnel – Actor & Producer
Alexander Shrapnel is an actor and producer. As an actor Lex has starred in films including Marvels ‘Captain America : The First Avenger’ , ‘K-19 : The Widowmaker’, ‘Nine Lives’, ‘Breakfast on Pluto’, ‘Thunderbirds’, ‘Extinction’, ‘Flyboys’, ‘An Organisation of Dreams’ , SEAL Team 8: Behind Enemy Lines’ ‘ The Tonto Woman’, ‘Minotaur’, ‘Hamlet Reveneant’.
Television roles include ‘A Town Called Malice’, ‘Minder’, ‘Medici:Masters of Florence’, ‘Hunted’, ‘Ministry of Mayhem’, ‘Sharpe’s Challenge’, ‘The Last Detective’, ‘Casualty’, ‘Endeavour’, ‘By Any Means’, ‘The Assets’.
Equally at home on stage his Hotspur in ‘Henry IV in the Royal Shakespeare Company was critically acclaimed describing him as ‘thrillingly charismatic’. He has appeared on stage in Terence Rattigan’s ‘The Deep Blue Sea’.
Lex’s late grandmother was actress Deborah Kerr, star of Hollywood films From Here To Eternity and The King And I, the 1956 classic musical. His father was the late and wonderful film and theatre actor John Shrapnel whom Lex has performed with on the stage.
“It was a great environment to grow up in,” recalls Lex. “My old man is a huge inspiration to me and a sublime actor. I spent a lot of time watching him in the theatre when I was growing up. My granny Deborah retired in her mid-sixties in 1985 and chilled out for her latter years but told the most amazing stories about all these remarkable people she worked with.”
Lex produced and acted in the short ‘Strange Weather’ which his brother Tom Shrapnel wrote and directed and will be screened on May 25th in the Vue cinema Ashbourne.
