Ashbourne is holding its very first film festival in the Vue cinema June 20th 2023. The ACI (Ashbourne Community Initiative) along with WPME,SiuySiu Productions Ltd with sponsorship from McGroddy Brennan LLP will host this very special one day festival.
Featuring new short works from IADT film students there will also be a premiere of new short film ‘The PageTurner’ written and directed by Ashbourne local Siúbhán Ní Ghríofa. This film has been part funded by Meath COCO and filming took place in Meath and Galway.
Another screening taking place is a beautiful short film ‘Dawn at Gougane Barra’ by Kurt Rosenburg. Kurt will be attending the festival all the way from Portland Oregon. Kurt and his team recorded the music here in Ireland with the WPME orchestra so holds a very special place in this festival.
Our special guest speaker is renowned film/tv composer Natasa Paulberg. She will be giving an insight into her career to date and a talk on the music of the late great Ennio Morricone.
Live music on the night will be performed by the Dublin String Quartet. Playing music from the big screen suchas ‘Braveheart’ , ‘Up’, ‘Frozen’ ,’Cinema Paradiso’ and more!
To conclude the festival there will be a screening of the classic film ‘Cinema Paradiso’ with music by Ennio Morricone.
A guest panel including film/tv producers Bob Corkey and Brighid Breathnach along with Natasa Paulberg will also be launching AFF 2024 short film competition.
